......................... ...... ...... .. ..

On behalf of the Scotia-Glenville All Sports Booster Club, I want to thank all the parents of the fall Sports athletes, the members of the All-Sports booster Club, yourself and most importantly the coaches and athletes of each fall sport. A very special thank you goes out to the coaches, athletes and the athletic department for your hard work and dedication. It is obvious that the athletes and coaches set out this fall to work hard and set standards of excellence in each of their respective sports.

This fall, our booster club has been very busy trying to support those efforts. We have worked to increase our membership and to raise money to assist our many programs. We feel we are moving in the right direction. We have had an increase in both membership and involvement by parents and business in the Scotia Glenville community

I would like to present to you a summary of the efforts the booster club has involved in to help our organization help the athletes, coaches and yourself in you hard work. It has been an exciting time of putting together new fund raising efforts as well as preparing for our annual efforts.

Girls Basketball Concession Stand - We have been striving in the past few years to expand the concession availability to as many sports as possible. One of these expanded areas the past few years has been girl's basketball. We need a parent to organize & sign up concession stand workers from the team and open the concession stand during the girl's games. (Pick up Money Box & order Pizza). Booster Club members will be available to help with getting organized.

Boys Basketball Concession Stand- last year we had a very successful concession stand for the boy's basketball games. We need a parent to organize & sign up concession stand workers for the boy's games.

JV Highlights

The boys JV soccer team had a very successful season, winning both the Schalmont Fall Classic Tournament on Labor Day Weekend, and the Foothills Council Championship. The team's league record was 13 wins and 1 loss, and its overall record was 15-1, with 54 goals for and only 5 against.

Besides the impressive statistics and the exciting team play, an important highlight of this season was that all the players improved individually.

After the season ended, the team celebrated the positive season with a pancake and waffle lunch with the coach.

Special Thanks: The coach and team would like to thank all the parents and family members who were so supportive and help throughout the season. It meant a lot having you there.

Modified Highlights:   Undefeated 13-0 season, with the graduating 8th graders completing modified with an overall record of 24-1-1.  Best game was a come from behind 4-2 win at rival South Glens Falls .  Team outscored opponents 83-9 throughout the season.  Individual highlights include Mike Fraioli with 21 goals, and Owen Fingar with 16 goals.

Special Thanks: To all the parents who donated and signed up for the Tartan Booster club during the season.  And a very special thanks to Denise Fraioli and Geoff Dylong for the organization of the end of the season party, as well as all the parents who took the time to prepare a great end of the season meal for the kids.

Field Hockey

Varsity & JV Highlights:

Field Hockey is not just a sport for our Scotia athletes, it is a family.  We train hard, we play hard, and we have experienced success because of that.  With two returning Varsity players and a new Varsity and JV coach, our program had what some would call "underdog" status.  We finished our regular season with a 6-6 league and 6-9 overall record our best season since 1990.

Our field hockey athletes all participated in the summer camp sponsored by the Booster club and attended other camps and clinics throughout the northeast over the spring and summer.  We also began an off season weight training program called BFS (bigger, faster, stronger) and carried that through our season with a one to two day a week workout in our fitness center depending upon our game schedule.  Our family and fan support has been outstanding this season with both positive encouraging cheers from our parents to delicious home cooked tailgate dinners served by our parents at away weekday games!  While we will miss our 5 seniors, we thank them all for their leadership and mentoring to all of our younger players throughout the season as well as during the offseason and wish them the best in their future endeavors.  .As you hear the last "Tartan Pride" cheer echo across the soon to be empty fields of the Scotia campus, you can be sure that Scotia Field Hockey has left a lasting impression on not only our players, but their parents, community, opponents and officials as well.

Congratulations

First Team All Stars :  MaryKate Wilding and Cathy Kennedy

Second Team All Stars:   Sierra Plemenik and Jessica Pajak

Honorable Mention:    Patricia Haffner, Olivia Pattee and Sara Duane

Thanks to the Booster Club for our new Field Hockey goal cages at the high school.  We would also like to thank booster club for their support of our summer camp and for purchasing our "camp packages" for each athlete who attended camp this summer.  We had almost 40 athletes attend camp from 1-12 grades.  The summer camp that Booster Club sponsors offers younger athletes a great opportunity to "try out" a sport before the modified season begins in September.  It also allows us to introduce a lesser known sport to younger athletes who are looking to experience a different sport.  Fifteen of our younger camp attendees went on to join our Tartan youth program which ran on Saturday mornings for six weeks during our fall season.

Upcoming Events:

Scotia Field Hockey will begin sectional play on Wednesday 10/27 as they face Ichabod Crane away at 3pm.  Semi final play will be held at the higher seed on Tuesday, November 2 at Glens Falls and the Finals will be held on Saturday, November 6th at a location to be announced.  Our end of season banquet will be held at the Glen Sanders Mansion on Sunday, October 31st from 5:30-7:30 pm.  All field hockey players and their families are invited from our youth program to our Varsity players.  It will be a celebration of our season and an opportunity for the coaches to recognize our Section II All Star players.

Special Thanks to all of our parents for getting your daughters to and from school during preseason, for roasting through our warm games and freezing through our cold games, but most of all just for being there for your daughters and giving them the opportunity to be athletes at Scotia!!  Thanks to 8th grade students Skylar Plemenik and Amanda Duane for being our team manager/timer/scorekeepers!  They have traveled the roads with our team win or lose and did a great job keeping track of the statistics at each game. Special thanks to Linda Plemenik for organizing our Tailgate program, the Play for the Cure game, and the banquet.  Thanks to Lila Miles, Linda Kalasinski and Angela Reid for their donations and support of our Play for the Cure raffle. Scotia-Glenville Field Hockey players raised over $2000.at our Play 4 the Cure game/Senior night which is donated to the Susan G Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer research and awareness.  Thanks to Margaret Ann Tine and Monica Kennedy for organizing and putting together our "a day in Italy " basket for the Pancake breakfast.  We would also like to thank the Administration, Faculty and Support Staff at Scotia-Glenville who make our program possible!  Without the staff to cut/line our fields, drive our buses, approve and purchase our supplies as well as keeping us aware of updates within our Section, we wouldn't be very effective as coaches.  In closing, a very special thanks to Jill Busman and John Geniti who provide our program with everything necessary so that we are able to go out and coach our programs!!

Football

Varsity Highlights:

I am very proud of the young men who were part of our football program. Most people think in wins and losses and a 3-6 record would mean a horrible season. I believe our team has grown in remarkable ways. The dedication of our young men has made us winners starting in January 2010. Many of our players spent time in the weight room to become bigger, faster and stronger. They trained three nights a week over summer vacation to work on conditioning and team bonding. During our preseason, our players dedicated themselves to three a day practices.

Our season started off slowly trying to understand a new offense and secured only one touchdown in our first four games with a 0-4 record, even though we played very hard and with excitement. After our first game, people and students noticed a change in our team's attitude. So much so, that after our first game student athletes joined our team. We then went on to win the next three out of five games and averaged nearly 28 points a game. During different events with our team (pancake breakfast, dining out, travel games), they were complimented many times on how well mannered and respectful they were.

Thank you, Jill Busman for the support you gave me through the year and making me feel a part of Scotia-Glenville.

Thanks to the Booster Club: The Booster Club has been a great support to our program. The purchase of a new sled helped improve the play of our team. I know many of you don't even have kids in our program, but still do the best for our students. Thank you also for the support of the Scotia-Glenville Golf Tournament.

The community was very generous to our program this year. They sponsored 50 plus signs for the golf tournament. I would especially like to thank Angelo Mazzone and the Glen Sanders Mansion for supporting our football team and me. Angelo raised money for our program and treated our team to a pre-game meal at his restaurant and sent food to us many times at no charge. Again, thank you Angelo. Thank you to Carm Pizza for the many times they sent pizza and wings to our team. Thank you also to the parents that prepared and served us our pregame meals.

JV Highlights:

The JV football team finished with a 5-4 record.  The season was highlighted by a 20-18 win over Averill Park who ended up making it to the JV Super Bowl.

Modified Highlights: The Modified Football team has had an undefeated season with 8 wins and 0 losses.  The athletes are very talented and hard working, and their success has been tremendous. In 8 games they have outscored opponents 247 to 24. The 2nd string has been working hard and they will have plenty of success next year!

Thanks to the booster club for the donation of money for new lockers in the Middle School locker room. This project will be completed in the off season, and will provide a much improved space for the Football and Lacrosse teams to use at the Middle School.

Thanks to Donna Erno for taking our team yearbook photo and several action photos.

Thanks to Rob Zeglen for video taping each game and providing players and coaches with CD's of the games on a regular basis.

A very special thanks to Volunteer Coach, Joe Carmola, who has had a great impact on our season. Joe's help has been invaluable, and the players have enjoyed his additions to practice very much.

Modified Highlights :

The 7th Grade Volleyball Team would like to thank the Booster Club for sponsoring their season this year and allowing us to give the 7th grade girls the opportunity to play this season. With their support, we were able to form a great foundation of basic skills, team unity and camaraderie that we may carry on into our 8th grade season.  We had a great season, ending with 9 wins and 5 losses. Our toughest matches ended in victory over Hudson Falls and an especially exciting and hard fought 3 game win over South Glens Falls .

Would like to also thank Mr. and Mrs. Landolfo for welcoming us into their home and hosting a team get together with great food and t-shirt decorating.

The 8th Grade Volleyball Team finished with a solid record of 7 wins and 7 losses. High points for our season would be our spectacular serving, our ever increasing ability to pass, set and hit on many of our offensive plays, a come from behind victory over a tough South Glens Falls team and a late season victory, in two games, over a previously undefeated Broadalbin-Perth team.  We have a handful of athletes who are choosing to play club volleyball this winter to help prepare them for next year's Jr. Varsity Team.

Our team would like to extend it's appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Samson who opened up their home to our 8th grade team for a delicious spaghetti and meatball dinner combined with some creative t-shirt decorating.

Special Thanks: In addition to our All Sports Booster Club, we would like to thank our parents for all of their support at our home and away matches; Mr. Geniti and Mrs. Busman for their help and communication; and our bus drivers for getting us to our away matches safely and for their support and sense of humor!

Upcoming Events: We will have our Girl's Modified Volleyball Banquet at the Fireside Pizzeria in Schenectady on Sunday, November 14th from 1-3:00 p.m.

Swimming

Seven girls made it to sectionals for individual events, we will be bringing 3 relays, and we have two girls going to states this year: Kiersten and Gabriana Beckford! The girls have worked really hard this season and it seems to have paid off!

Sectionals start on Friday, November 5 th 2 4:30 at Shen HS.

Cheerleading

Highlights: Despite losing a key team member to a serious injury, the 9 cheerleaders remaining really pulled together this season and worked hard.  This was culminated by their pep rally performance where several girls strived to push their tumbling and stunting skills to the limit.  Also at games they have really focused on making their cheers more crowd involved and incorporated more difficult stunts and tumbling each week as they mastered various skills at practice.

In addition, the girls really took the reigns in making sure signs were made for homecoming and the senior players lockers were decorated as well.  The coaches didn't have to do any planning or organizing of this as the girls took this on themselves and got everything accomplished.

Thanks to the Booster Club:   Our camp this summer allowed us to raise over $900 for the cheer program.  The girls organized the cheer camp activities, teach the camp, and take the opportunity to work with the girls in the community since they are the ones these kids look up to.

We would also like to acknowledge the Booster Club giving the team a donation for our account.  Having to withdraw salaries from our fundraising account has really drained us financially and every little bit helps.

Special Thanks : As always thanks to Jill Busman for her e-mail updates with bus schedules, answering countless questions regarding the little details of getting through the season.  Mary Crandall, Janice Lindsay, and Barbara Riggi for attending Booster Club meetings, ordering hot pants, socks, and other uniform items the girls need for the season, and just doing general running around that coaches cannot get to during the day while we are at work.
